Blogtoberfest Day 13 ... a trip to the big city x

Today began with a little bit of exercise! I went for a run ... well more like a walk, run, walk, run, walk, well you get the idea!

I did two miles split into a two minute walk and a one and a half minute run ... and it felt incredibly good!!

While I was running I thought to myself that I should have brought my camera with me ... but I fear that would have defeated the purpose of the exercise ... it would have involved too many stops and starts and not enough running!!

Then at the end of the walk I realised I had my phone with me ... so I apologise for the quality of the photos, I wanted to capture the sunshine and the beautiful colours ... hopefully you will be able to see a little of it!!

It was a beautiful autumn morning, and the sunshine was glorious!!

And in honour of Little Tin Bird and Bunny Mummy here is a shadow photo ...

At least you can't tell from the photo how red I was after the walk, run, walk, run, walk ...!!

And then was the big adventure to the big city ... bginning with a train journey!!

I went with a shopping list of material to create a greenman ... so it had to be a visit to the Rag Market!

The Rag Market has a wonderful selection of traders, from fabrics, clothing, to incense and herbs (I love the Herb Lady's stall she sells such a wonderful range!) and then onto pots, pans and cutlery. The traders are all so helpful too, and if they don't have what you want they will tell you which other traders to try.

I brought a selection of felt, fabrics and organza which I am hoping together with a few fabrics bits I have already I will be able to create a greenman.

I am using the patterns in the last issue of Mollie Makes ...

I have to admit the wool isn't for the greenman ... I just couldn't resist a ball of wool, somehow it just jumped into my hand and made me buy it ... !!

After finishing in the Rag Market we ventured to Digbeth and the Custard Factory this has to be one of my most favourite parts of the city. Here you will find vintage clothing, records, cds, musical instruments, artists and craftspeople ... and today there was a vintage craft fair! It was a sheer delight to discover this little market ... I loved it!!

After lunch in the Chinese Quarter ... nom, nom ... it was back on the train and homeward bound!

Tomorrow will bring a trip to a local flea and collectors fair with the girls ... and one of the fabulous hot chocolates they sell there ...

I am going armed with my camera and a little bit of pocket money as you never know what you may find!

bye bye for now!!
